Joan Brehl lands at ABC Canada
Industry veteran Joan Brehl, who lost her job as publishing director of Time Canada when the magazine was closed in December, has landed a new gig as vice president/general manager of the Audit Bureau of Circulations’ Canadian division.

Joan Brehl receiving the Ad Club Award of Merit in 2007.
Brehl, who spent 18 years at Time and has also worked in advertising and magazine editorial, will officially begin work at ABC on Aug. 4, though she will attend a couple of board meetings in Toronto and Chicago this month.

According to a press release from ABC:
Her focus includes implementation of marketing and sales strategies that promote the ABC Canada brand, developing new strategic business opportunities in print, digital, mobile and other media channels, and forging relationships with Canada’s leading publishers, media buyers, and industry influencers. Brehl will also serve as the staff liaison for the newly formed ABC Canada Board Committee and its advisory committees—the Canadian Newspaper Advisory Committee and the Canadian Print Advertising Buyers Committee.
Brehl is essentially replacing Bob White, ABC’s former senior vice president of Canada, who split with the organization earlier this year. White, who specializes in sales and marketing, as well as association management, told Masthead today that he’s still looking for work in the industry.
