FASHION sponsors Strut for a Cure
FASHION magazine recently sponsored Strut for a Cure with the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation in support of a cure for children’s cancer at the Berkeley Church in Toronto.

FASHION acting editor in chief Bernadette Morra says the event was pitched to the magazine in February but they made the tight deadline work because it’s for a great cause. “The pressure of pulling this together, finding the right designer, sponsors has been a huge task – much of which has fallen on the shoulders of our publisher Lilia Lozinski,” says Morra. “But when you’re doing it to help children who are fighting cancer you have no choice but to help.”

Featuring designer Todd Lynn, who is a graduate of Ryerson University, Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha and Canadian band Dragonette — Morra says the sold out event was planned to be a party rather than a sit down corporate event at round tables.

The opportunity to meet readers and celebrate fashion in a way that suits the brand are additional benefits to being involved, says Morra. “Our involvement gets us promoted by people talking about us on Facebook, Twitter — it gets our name out there.”

Morra says the magazine is hoping to be involved with the event again in the future. “We would love for this event to grow, get stronger and better to help kids who have cancer. Children can’t fundraise for themselves. They need us to do it.”
