OWL magazine celebrates 35 years
A beloved children's magazine is celebrating its 35th birthday this June.
Owlkids (publisher of OWL) is celebrating the occasion with events, contests, giveaways, a special collector’s edition, and a commemorative T-shirt, according to a release.
“OWL is a veritable Canadian institution,” said group publisher Jennifer Canham. “It has touched the lives of millions of Canadians — and many parents are rediscovering the joy of OWL introducing it to their children today. I know I am.”
Cary Fagan, Carol Matas, Arthur Slade and Kenneth Oppel were asked to contribute to the June birthday issue, with the special edition featuring guest editor Annabel Slaight, co-founder of OWL.
Special events are also being planned to mark the occasion: On June 3, OWL editor Craig Battle hosts a free party for kids aged 3-13 in Langley, BC, at the Willowbrook Shopping Centre from 6-8 p.m.; in Toronto on June 30, there is a free magazine giveaway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CN Tower.
