New online magazine, Condominia, recruiting 'ambassadors'
A new online magazine is gathering "ambassadors" to drive up its circulation numbers.

Condominia Magazine, published by Communiqis Inc. and produced by Texterity, was first published in March 2011 but only recently formally announced. Condominia will be published seven times per year for the Toronto market with a circulation "that is growing daily" according to a release. The publication offers advice on how to buy a condo, design tips and a review of hot locations in the city and around the world.

Brian Rushton Phillips, design and editorial director of the magazine, explained the publication was launched with a controlled circulation of 30,000 real estate agents and brokers. "We're positioning [the magazine] as a free marketing tool for brokers and agents. They can incorporate it into their client retention and acquisition programs," said Rushton Phillips.

The magazine also invites brokers to be "ambassadors", essentially becoming distributors of the magazine to their clients, he explained. So far there are 125 ambassadors, he added.

The publication's reach has expanded from 30,000 to 50,000 since its launch; with an average of 200 clients per agent, 20,000 readers were added to Condominia’s distribution list in three months, according to the release.

There will also be a premium ambassador program launched in the coming weeks, he noted. The premium program will be about customization; for a fee, brokers will be able to add their own listings at the back of the publication along with a cover mention, explained Rushton Phillips.

Ads cost $3,500 for a full page including an interactive component such as advertiser-supplied video, while a half page is $2,000 and doesn't include rich media, he said.
