Western Living shows off new look
Western Living updates its design and launches a slew of new columns in the September 2013 edition, which highlights the winners of the mag's annual Designers of the Year competition.

According to a TC Media release, this is Western Living's largest issue in over 20 years. "We wanted to stay in tune with our readers' passions and mirror their interests in our features - home & design, food & wine, and travel," said Lori Chalmers, publisher of Western Living and Vancouver at TC Media.

TC Media describes the update as "more feminine," targeting contemporary women readers with "softer design and content." The mag will feature more profiles, pan-regional content, and more travel pieces with a design focus. New columns include Just One Room, On Trend, 48 Hours In, Spirit Guide and more. The cover treatment for September specifically targets the design community with a spiralling Pantone colour wheel.

Western Living was launched in 1970 and is distributed in Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. It targets urban dwellers and design professionals interested in topics such as home decor, renovation, food and travel. It has 587,000 readers according to spring 2013 data from the Print Measurement Bureau, and is available for free in selected home shows and in-store placements.
