People in Print: Changes at Spacing, BIG and more
Dale Duncan [Photo by Rannie Turingan]

After five years as Spacing magazine's executive editor, Dale Duncan is crossing over to the dark side: she's taken a job at Toronto City Hall as constituency assistant to councillor Adam Vaughan. Duncan, who was also Eye Weekly's city columnist,  has been with the urban space-focused magazine from its inception.

This past June, Duncan was named editor of the year by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors. Spacing copy editor Todd Harrison is moving up into the managing editor role next month. More details on Spacing's blog.

Selina Rahaman has joined Business Information Group as circulation manager. Prior to joining BIG, Rahaman worked for MediaEdge Communications and St. Joseph Media.

Replacing Rahaman at MediaEdge is Cindy Youhan, who will handle subscriptions for the company's 17 publications.

Bonnie Brooks
Bonnie Brooks, who was the editor of Flare magazine from 1994-1996, has been named CEO of The Bay. Brooks has much executive retail experience, having worked as executive vice-president, merchandising at Holt Renfrew and president of the Lane Crawford Joyce Group in Hong Kong. See this Globe and Mail report for more details.

A bunch of changes to report from Strut magazine in the wake of founding editor Anik Decoste's departure this past spring. Ava Chisling, formerly the editor-at-large for the Montreal-based fashion mag, is the new managing director. Chisling is a media lawyer and the former executive editor of enRoute. Amelie Beaulieu is the new art director, replacing Vectora Me. Beaulieu was the art director at Clin d'Oeil for close to five years.  Ryan Barnett is the new assistant editor. He is a writer and a filmmaker whose works have been screened at the Montreal Film Fest.

At The Walrus, Dionne Beckford was recently promoted from retail account manager to director of sales.

Finally, Steve Bouchard has been promoted to editorial director of Newcom Media Quebec. Bouchard will continue to be editor of Transport Routier but will also oversee the editorial direction of Logistics Magazine, which was acquired by Newcom last week (story coming later today).
