New national mag gives voice to 'cleantech' industry
A new national magazine provides a new voice for the 'cleantech' industry.

Impact is a bilingual, biannual publication focused on solar, wind and other renewable energy, published by Gordongroup in collaboration with the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation.

"The very fact that Impact now exists is a sign of the cleantech industry's maturity," said Celine Bak, an editorial board member of the new magazine.

Stories in the debut issue include a profile on Canadian company Enerkem, which uses a thermal process to convert garbage to syngas, used to produce ethanol fuel and industrial chemicals. The second edition, slated for fall 2011, will address "the wide diversity of challenges and opportunities facing Canada's cleantech sector" and other subjects.

Of the 40,000 circulation, 25,000 copies will be inserted into the Globe and Mail, 10,000 will be inserted into Le Devoir, with the remainder to be mailed to industry subscribers across Canada.

A four-colour full page ad for fall 2011 is $3,310.01, but the magazine is selling packages with bonus discounts. Some advertisers include Cascades, Corvus Energy Ltd., McMaster University and Subaru Canada.
