The Atlantic Journalism Awards held its 32nd event in Halifax, celebrating excellence in Atlantic Canadian journalism.

Saltscapes took home the Best Cover award for its January/February 2012 issue. The silver finalists in this category were Atlantic Salmon Journal (December 2012) and East Coast Living (Summer 2012).

In the writing categories, Marjorie Simmins was awarded the top prize in Atlantic Magazine Article for her Progress Magazine piece, "To the Manor Born", a profile of comedian/actor Shaun Majumder. Silvers went to John DeMont/Herald Magazine for "Does Nova Scotia Get the Government it Deserves?", and Martin Silverstone/Atlantic Salmon Journal for "Atlantic Salmon at the End of the Earth."

John DeMont won gold in Best Profile Article for "Graham Day", his Herald Magazine profile of busines exec Sir Graham Day. Picking up silvers were Martin Silverstone/Atlantic Salmon Journal for "River Princess", and Paul McLeod/Herald Magazine for "Kathy Dunderdale's Revolution".

In the Arts & Entertainment Reporting - Any Medium category, Atlantic Business Magazine took home gold for Stephen Kimber's "Six Men, Two Dories and the North Atlantic". It beat three silver-winning stories from the Telegraph-Journal.

Noted magazine writer Harry Bruce was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.
