The founding president and CEO of Lucky Iron Fish has been recognized within the pages of Forbes magazine’s fifth annual 30 Under 30 issue, for his company's social entrepreneurship. Gavin Armstrong, a University of Guelph graduate was chosen (along with other fellow Canadians), following a screening process that included more than 15,000 best of the best candidates across 20 categories.

The list showcases 600 of North America’s most important young entrepreneurs, creative leaders and brightest stars who are creating change in the world.

"Being named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 is a deeply validating and gratifying experience for me," president and CEO Gavin Armstrong said. "I am even more excited by what the recognition can do to help Lucky Iron Fish reach more individuals who are susceptible to iron deficiency, one of the world's most pervasive and underestimated nutritional disorders."

Lucky Iron Fish is a cast iron fish that can provide up to 90% of your daily dose of iron when it’s added to a cooking pot. The company began because of Armstrong’s drive to find a solution to address iron deficiency, which affects 3.5 billion people worldwide. It is now used in over 65 countries, with plans to expand in 2016. 

Nathan Williams, co-founder of Kinfolk magazine, a publication that focuses on helping readers simplify their lives, was also named in this year’s list. Williams has expanded into the world of fashion and home décor with Ouur Collection, which landed him a spot on Forbes’ retail and e-commerce list.

Canadians featured also included: Filmmaker Xavier Dolan; YouTube star Lilly Singh; music producer Boi-1da; Shopify’s Satish Kanwar; musician Shawn Mendes; NHL player Jamie Benn; musician The Weeknd; Bench co-founder Ian Crosby; musician Grimes and Wiivv Wearables Inc., co-founder Louis-Victor Jadavji.
