Rogers Media is again aligning its properties across mediums with Maclean's Great Canadian Countdown, an original one-hour special that will air Canada Day on City.

This is the first partnership between the national current affairs magazine and its sibling City network, which has previously partnered with other Rogers Media mags Chatelaine, via recurring Chatelaine editions of Cityline, and Flare, for a Paulina Gretzky special tied to the mag's February cover story.

"Maclean's has been having an exciting year, as we expand onto more and more platforms," said publisher Penny Hicks in a release. "We have a strong presence on the tablet and smartphone, and have published a stable of ebooks. Now, bringing Maclean's to television is another great way to connect with our readers and yet another platform."

The program is a TV version of the brand's latest special interest publication, the 260-page listicle-packed Maclean's Book of Lists Vol. 2. Content for both are trivia and opinions on a range of random topics including food, politics, science and sports, built around setups like the best places to live, the provinces where the most residents have had sex in a canoe, and the cities with the most UFO sightings.

The show is hosted by Adam Korson, star of Seed (an original comedy series also airing on City and commissioned by Rogers Media). A lineup of noted Canadians make appearances, including Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau, hockey stars Hayley Wickenheiser and Darryl Sittler, and astronaut Roberta Bondar.

The Book of Lists Vol. 2 arrives on newsstands today and is also available for digital download at the iBookstore. As well, Maclean's has revived its Blog of Lists, which went on hiatus in January. Maclean's Great Canadian Countdown airs July 1, 7 p.m. EST.

[UPDATE: Rogers Media has postponed the broadcast in light of the flooding in Alberta.]
